I've decided to abandon this screen name (handle) and make a new one that I'll be posting only my serious art. On this one I've posted a lot of art that I've goofed off with and I want a neat and solid gallery with serious and (what I consider) my good art instead of art (I consider) that's just average.

I know I haven't been responding to everyone's comments or messages, but please don't think I don't care for them.  I appreciate every last one of them.  It feels good to finally know that people actually admire my work.  I've been busy the last month with my new job and the end of my education at ITT (yuck!) is coming up so I'm pushing extra hard...so I haven't really been able to mess around with deviantart as much as I want to (especially since I'm still on 56k)....but I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who checks out my work and especially the ones who frequently comment.  Thanks so much guys...

Something happened to me on the 23rd that's worth writing about.  I found out my grandma had another stroke and now she's in the hospital.  She can't move...all she can do is breath and move her eyes, but from what I've heard...she's been through this before so I pray she'll be okay.

After I got home from school I went online and started finishing page 6 of a comic book I'm working on for digitalwebbing.com called "Slight of Hand".  Well....out of nowhere a guy instant messaged me asking if I'd be interested in contracting some of my artwork.  He told me he'd be willing to pay $50 for my Qui Gon Anime piece.

Being the generous guy I am...I told him he could use it for no charge.  He INSISTED that I be payed for my quality of art.  So he payed me $50 so he could use the image on his webpage.  Turns out he's a website programmer.  Then he asked if I could finish his shoulder because he wanted to make a flash animation out of it.  So I did...and he said "I'll give you an extra $20 for your troubles."

I already felt overpayed with the $50 he's paying me so I told him not to worry about it.  Then he went on to say "In this business...you'll learn to not let your quality of work go unpayed."

After that...he said he'd pay me $300 if I would make 4 other illustrations of some concept characters in the same style of the one I did above.  So I graciously accepted.

We ended up talking for a little bit and turns out he's a former cartoonist.  I told him that once I get a tablet (used for drawing on a computer) my colors will be 10 times better.  He said he had a 5 year old WACOM tablet lying around that he never uses and he'd give it to me.  He also said he was a huge Ninja Scroll fan, so I came to the conclusion that the reason he likes my illustration so much is because I loosely based the style I used on the drawing up above on Ninja Scroll's style.  He then went on to say that if this works out we may have a steady partnership...

AWESOME!!!

Then later that night...I went to Taco Bell and ordered a Steak Stuffed Burrito Combo which comes with nachos & cheese and a drink.  Well....when I got home and looked in the bag....there was my order with an extra taco and 2 supreme gorditas and I didn't even pay for them!!!  At first I felt bad for keeping the food, but I know fast foods joints throw extra food in the trash anyway....so I just saved the 2 gorditas for...

...the next day was pretty dull.  Just finished Chapter 1 of the comic book I'm working on.  Did a lil Tae Bo.

It's 7:45 on a Tuesday morning...

...I should be asleep...

...but my body won't allow me to.

I've been trying to get my sleeping schedule back on track because well...I need to.  I've been sleeping from 6am to 2pm ever since well...I quit my job which was about 10 months ago.  Maybe I need a life out of my apartment...

Anyway, I've been into concept designing lately which is okay...but I really need to start doing some original pieces.  I've also been working on a comic that's going to be published through digitalwebbing.com next year called "Slight of Hand".  So most of my focus is going towards that...hopefully it's my big break.

Blah...

Got a lot of stuff on my mind from family to friends to bills to school to jobs, etc....

Mainly family...

Anywho, as for my art...I need to start using shadows and fill my characters with more life. Whenever I draw my characters they're too stiff and realistic. I guess I need to get out of the 'realistic' set of mind because I know whenever I draw a character that's dancing or fighting...they're not exageratted enough and they look too stiff. So yeah...I need to stop thinking 'realistic'.
